Karen Lewis Young is a Democratic state senator representing Maryland's District 3 in Frederick County since 2023. A former banking executive with degrees from Franklin & Marshall College and Columbia University, she previously served in the House of Delegates from 2015 to 2023 and succeeded her husband in the Senate. She became the first woman elected to represent western Maryland in the upper chamber.
